The organization that promotes and supports general aviation to the general public. We advocate on behalf of our members and the pilot population and disseminate information to members, public and government authorities in order to assist in making informed decisions.
Our Statement
We strive to advocate on behalf of our members for general aviation rights that are enjoyed as a matter of course in the rest of the world. We will take the initiative and pursue our members’ goals to their logical conclusion. In this effort, we look for active participation from members to assist in meeting our goals.
Our objective is to have the highest ethical standards in our dealings with all our members, the government and all associates. We strive for excellence in whatever we attempt. We are completely transparent in our dealings.
History and Mission
History
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots' Association, India was founded to speak as the unified voice for general aviation in India. AOPA, India has grown to meet the ever-changing needs of the Indian aviation community and is the recognized voice of general aviation in India.
Today we are proud to represent our members spread across the length and breadth of our country who recognize the need for strong, effective representation resting on our core principles of integrity, commitment, discovery, unity and leadership. We shall continue to advance, promote, and preserve the freedom to fly in our country.

For many of us, our aviation ambition is simply taking the controls of an aircraft and living out a dream that humans have pursued throughout the ages – private flying. For some, it means an aspiration to learn to fly and to enter the world of commercial aviation, and for others it simply means an unbridled enthusiasm for aviation and a desire to share it with others. For all these reasons and more, we are AOPA India members.
We take to the skies for many reasons and are driven by motivations as varied as we are; while some of us fly to further business goals and stimulate the economy, others relish the exhilaration and the beauty that come with experiencing the world from a different perspective. While our community is remarkably diverse, there is one common idea that is shared by all AOPA India pilots — a love of flight.
The AOPA India team exists to protect and to grow the incredible privilege that we call general aviation. Whether it is through educating the public about the fun and the utility that aircraft can provide, preparing resources and training material to enhance the skills of pilots everywhere, or advocating for aviation within government agencies, it is our job to maintain the strength and vitality of the flying community across the country. We shall endeavour to address much needed reforms to the DGCA’s medical process, especially for hobby fliers and private pilots, airport fee pricing and transparency, pilot and aircraft certification, drone integration, Air Traffic Control, taxes related to aviation services/business etc. Our mission is to ensure that the sky remains within reach of everyone who dreams of becoming a pilot.
